Customs in the area

Finland and Sweden have been members of the European Community since 1995.

When Finland and Sweden became members of the EU they also joined the customs and fiscal territories of the European Community.

There is a Customs service on the Finnish side of the border. There is an information office in Storgatan 94, in Haparanda.



Clearance offices for cross-border traffic

After appointment:
Clearance of Carnet TIR and Carnet ATA for cross-border traffic
can be done Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Appointments can be made via fax +46 31 63 39 70
or by telephone +46 31 63 38 16.

Appointments can be made via fax or by telephone weekdays
between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. but no later than 24 hours prior to the desired day of clearance.

Particulars to be stated in a fax:
Mandatory particulars that must be stated in a fax when applying for clearance:

1. Date of application
2. Declarant/agent
   (Corporate Identification Number, name, address, telephone,
    mobile phone, e-mail)
3. Desired date, time and place for clearance
4. Desired procedure
5. Mode of transport (number, designation of unit)
